Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette will be allowed to leave Lyon this summer, according to a report.

Broadcaster talkSPORT claim that the long-term Gunners target will be given the opportunity to move away from the French outfit in the current transfer window.

It is said Arsenal are expected to bid again for Lacazette after the Ligue 1 giants released a statement via social media revealing that the club had rejected a £29.5million bid from the Londoners earlier in the window.

The report says the Lyon hierarchy are keen to spark a bidding war for Lacazette, who failed to make the French squad for Euro 2016.

Arsenal have been in the hunt for a striker for several seasons as Arsene Wenger looks for a more prolific counterpart to the misfiring Olivier Giroud.

However, they also denied claims that had said the north London club had returned with a £40million bid.

Wenger’s side are becoming more frantic in their search for a striker, with Jamie Vardy and Gonzalo Higuain both turning down moves to join the Gunners this summer.

The French boss will be keen to bring in a striker for the forthcoming campaign, with Giroud and Theo Walcott the only experienced options available going forward, but it’s becoming clear that he may have to spend more than he is willing to obtain a forward.
