Kurt Zouma is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury in Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
The centre-back landed awkwardly after clearing a loose ball 55 minutes into the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
He screamed in pain every few seconds before undergoing several minutes of treatment on the pitch.
Zouma was then stretchered off to be replaced by Gary Cahill, who had once again been left on the bench in favour of his younger team-mate.
Zouma will now be assessed by Chelsea’s medical staff but the early signs are that he is facing a lengthy spell out of the team.
The Frenchman’s expected absence will be a major blow to Guus Hiddink’s team. The 21-year-old has struck up a solid partnership with John Terry over the last few months.
