Celtic’s 19-year-old full-back Kieran Tierney is full of confidence ahead of the Old Firm derby, despite the hugely disappointing 2-0 defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Celtic have to get over the result quickly, with the Scottish League Cup semi-final against arch rivals Rangers coming up on Sunday.

“We are looking forward to it,” Tierney said in the Scottish Sun. “We will recover now over the next few days and we will go into it still confident.

“It wasn’t the result we wanted but we need to pick ourselves up because we have a big semi-final on Sunday.

“It is the semi-final, we are one game away from a cup final and at Celtic that is what it is all about – getting to finals and trying to win cups.”

Celtic’s defeat in the Champions League has put them on the bottom of a very difficult Champions League Group C and they will need some shock results to progress.

Things are very different on the domestic front though. Celtic are unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership, with seven wins and a draw from their eight games.

They beat rivals Rangers 5-1 in September in a league clash, and will be hoping to secure another victory against them on Sunday as they go in search of another piece of silverware.

In other Celtic news, defender Kolo Toure made this assessment of Celtic’s performance in the Champions League.
