Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren are expected to feature in Liverpool’s clash against Manchester United on Monday night.

Jurgen Klopp revealed at his press conference on Friday afternoon that the pair were “in the race” for the Premier League clash at Anfield.

Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce quoted Klopp on his personal Twitter account as saying that Clyne and Lovren are likely to be available.

Lovren missed out on Croatia’s clashes with Finland and Kosovo during the international break after picking up a knock.

The centre-back was injured in Liverpool’s last outing against Swansea City despite completing the full 90 minutes.

Clyne wasn’t included in the England set-up either, missing his country’s matches against Malta and Slovenia.

Should the pair return, it will give Klopp’s side a huge boost ahead of the crunch clash against United on Monday evening.

Joel Matip has started to develop a bright partnership with Lovren at the heart of Liverpool’s defence and the duo will need to be in top shape to deal with the threat of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and company.

Given Liverpool’s lack of experienced options in the full-back positions, Clyne’s inclusion will be vital and his likely availability will come as a great relief for Reds’ fans.

In other Liverpool team news, Klopp receives huge boost as senior players return to full training.
