Jurgen Klopp could not conceal his delight after big guns Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea were also handed tricky League Cup ties.

Liverpool will host fellow in-form team Tottenham at Anfield at the last-16 stage of the competition after comfortably securing a 3-0 win at Derby on Tuesday night.

Even that match-up might not take centre stage in the week beginning October 24, when the ties will be played.

Manchester United will play Manchester City for the second time this season, while Chelsea travel to London rivals West Ham.

Asked for his reaction on Thursday morning to the mouthwatering draw, Klopp replied with typical humour.

“First draw I saw live. West Ham v Chelsea made me smile, United v City – nice. I’m happy to be playing at home (against Tottenham),” he said, as quoted by the BBC Sport live blog.

Liverpool have won three consecutive matches – against Leicester, Chelsea and Derby – and have delivered some eyecatching performances in recent weeks.

In other Liverpool news, there could be two changes on Saturday against Hull to the team that beat Chelsea 2-1 last weekend.
