Jurgen Klopp has revealed Joel Matip and Marko Grujic will be involved in Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Barcelona on Saturday.
The pair have recovered from injuries suffered in the build-up to the new campaign.
Grujic came off in the friendly against Chelsea in the US after suffering concussion in a collision with youngster Bertrand Traore.
Matip picked up an ankle injury against Wigan and sat out the US tour but he has been back in training since the start of this week.
The Liverpool manager has revealed that the senior pair have made quick recoveries and fans will be happy that the two will be back before the season starts.
“Both will be involved,” said Klopp as quoted on the Liverpool Echo press conference blog (2.15pm).
“Marko we had to wait until the doc gave the green light. The injury was not too serious, but we use our brain and he uses it for football too!
“Joel has trained for three days.”
However, the German manager did confess that two senior players would be sidelined for the Barcelona match.
“Lucas (Leiva) and Joe (Gomez) are not available,” he said.
Klopp will be keen to ensure that his team doesn’t suffer any serious injuries against Barcelona, as he looks to return the English giants to Europe’s elite competition, the Champions League.
In other Liverpool team news, Wigan have reignited their bid to sign Reds youngster Cameron Brannagan.
