Everton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed his interest in signing Juan Mata and Axel Witsel this summer.

The Merseysiders have been strongly linked with sensational moves for the Manchester United and Zenit St Petersburg stars.

Attacking midfielder Mata is contracted to United until 2018 and central midfielder Witsel is tied to Zenit until only 2017 but any deal for the pair could exceed a total price tag of £50million.

Twitter account @SportSignings posted a video of the former Southampton manager signing autographs and when asked about the possible acquisitions of both Mata and Witsel, he said: “Yes, It’s possible”.

The new Everton manager arrived at the club this summer following the departure of Roberto Martinez from Goodison Park after a disappointing domestic campaign this season.

Koeman is expected to invest heavily in his squad before the start of the new season with the backing of new billionaire owner Farhad Moshiri.

Spain international Mata, 28, and Belgium ace Witsel, 27, will widely be regarded as the type of elite players who can take Everton to the next level.

Toffees fans will be hoping any new additions can push them up the table next season after finishing 11th in their last two Premier League campaigns.

The Blues will also be hoping that Romelu Lukaku will sign a bumper new deal at the club to warn off interest from Premier League rivals.

In other Everton news, the Toffees remain best placed to sign Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata after Barcelona rejected the chance to sign the Spaniard.
