New Everton manager Ronald Koeman is keen on bringing Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin to Goodison Park for £25million, according to reports.

The French central midfielder worked under Koeman at Southampton until he was sold to Old Trafford last summer.

The Daily Express claim Schneiderlin could be in line to leave United as Jose Mourinho attempts to bolster his midfield with the signing of Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic.

The 26-year-old France international has had a steady year at Old Trafford but was often overlooked for the key matches despite making 39 appearances in all competitions.

Former manager Louis van Gaal rotated five players for the two central midfield positions, with Schneiderlin competing against Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Schneiderlin could be seen as expendable especially after Carrick recently extended his contract for another year and new deeper role handed to Wayne Rooney in recent months.

Koeman could be willing to add the former Strasbourg man to his wish list as he looks to use his £100 million transfer kitty to bolster Everton’s European hopes with some marquee signings/

Schneiderlin played some of his best football under Koeman which prompted a move to United last summer, and a move Everton could well be welcomed by the Frenchman.

In other Everton news, Koeman has made his first signing by bringing in this young goalkeeper.
