Everton are targeting a £15million swoop for Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann if Ronald Koeman takes charge, according to a report.

As reported by Football Insider, the Merseysiders are confident of appointing the Southampton manager as their new boss later this week.

The Liverpool Echo claim Everton have shortlisted Dann as a possible replacement for John Stones, who is the subject of strong interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.

It is said that Dann could command a transfer fee of £15million even though he turned 29 in February.

The Liverpool-born defender has four years remaining on his contract and has been a mainstay of the Palace team that have established themselves in the Premier League in recent seasons and were an extra-time final defeat to Manchester United away from winning the FA Cup.

Everton are locked in talks with Southampton as they try and thrash out a compensation package for Koeman.

The former Dutch international is set to earn £6million-a-year at Goodison and will be handed a club record transfer kitty, which is set to exceed £100million.

Bookmaker Sky Bet has suspended its next Everton manager market following a wave of large bets on Koeman.

Koeman has one year remaining on his contract with the south coast club, and it has been claimed this week that the compensation figure is the equivalent of a year’s salary, which is £3million.

Koeman has been pursued to succeed Roberto Martinez, who was sacked by Everton at the end of the season, after another strong campaign in the Premier League with Southampton.

The Dutchman has guided the Saints to back-to-back record breaking points totals in the Premier League and this season secured Europa League football.

In other Everton news, a senior Southampton player could be ready to follow Koeman to Goodison Park.
