West Ham fan Kriss Akabusi believes Dimitri Payet’s disappointing performance against Everton was just a one-off.
The France international failed to live up to his brilliant best against Ronald Koeman’s side, as the Toffees secured a superb 2-0 victory at Goodison Park thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.
Olympic silver medallist Akabusi, who is a lifelong West Ham fan, claimed on his personal Twitter account that Payet was at fault for the Toffees’ first goal but believes Payet will recover.

Payet, who was used on the left of midfield, lost the ball on multiple occasions and was largely disappointing from both free kicks and corners as the Hammers tried in vain to work their way back into the match.
Former Marseille and Nantes star Payet has struggled to recapture his sparkling form of last season and throughout Euro 2016 this season, as the Hammers continue to stutter in the Premier League.
The Hammers did look to have sparked a mini-revolution prior to Sunday’s Premier League encounter, after starting the season in dismal form that saw them drop into the relegation zone.
Two domestic wins followed by a superb EFL Cup win against Chelsea in midweek seemed a world away from the Hammers’ performance against Ronald Koeman’s side, as they slip back into 16th place.
In other West Ham news, fans have joined Akabusi on Twitter in commenting on the performance of Payet.
