Manuel Lanzini is set to be sidelined until February after damaging his groin in West Ham’s 2-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday.
The Argentine limped out of the Premier League clash at the 37-minute mark following a delightful individual contribution to the Hammers’ early dominant display.
Manager Slaven Bilic is hopeful that Lanzini will only be absent for a “short time” but a source at Upton Park on Saturday has told Football Insider that the 22-year-old is likely to be out for around three weeks.
This would rule the attacking midfielder out of action for most of January, and most likely keep him out of Premier League fixtures against Bournemouth, Newcastle and Manchester City as well as the FA Cup tie against Wolves next Saturday.
West Ham climbed to fifth in the Premier League table after clinching a rare home-and-away league double over Liverpool, who slipped to eighth before the rest of the weekend fixtures.
