Marseille are turning their focus to Carlos Sanchez after failing to sign his teammate Idriss Gueyea from Aston Villa, according to a report.
The Birmingham Mail claims they will now bid £3m for Colombian international Sanchez and are confident of getting their man.
The report also says that sources in France told the Birmingham Mail that cash-strapped Marseille called time on Gueye talks, because they couldn’t afford the £7m transfer fee required to meet his buy-out clause.
Sanchez moved to Aston Villa for £5million in 2014 from La Liga side Elche, but following their relegation he is one of a number of players who could leave.
He has played a total of 48 times in the Premier League for the Midlands club, but an injury meant he played a lesser role in the most recent season playing just 20 times.
Sanchez picked up an injury days before the start of 2016, and that injury kept him out of the side until the second half of March.
The Colombian with 67 international appearances has two years remaining on his contract.
In other Aston Villa news, former striker Stan Collymore has been sacked by talkSPORT.
