Mark Lawrenson believes that Arsenal are stronger than Chelsea ahead of their Premier League meeting.
The Gunners host Chelsea on Saturday evening and the match sees fourth play fifth in the table.
Arsene Wenger strengthened his Arsenal squad in the summer with senior recruits Shkodran Mustafi, Lucas Perez and Granit Xhaka all joining.
BBC pundit Lawrenson has backed Arsenal to be too strong for Chelsea and believes that Mustafi is a great signing.
“I think Arsenal look better than Chelsea to be honest with you,” he told Football Focus. “I think Chelsea were completely unhinged with what Liverpool did to them for an hour last week, I think Wenger’s buys as well is that even more competition for places. Mustafi looks like he is going to be a very good player.”
Mustafi moved to the Emirates in the summer after completing a move from Valencia.
The 24-year-old has been recruited to bolster the club’s defence and is likely to partner Laurent Koscielny as the first-choice centre-backs.
He has made three appearances already for the Gunners and is still undefeated.
The German international has also earned 13 caps for his nation and was included in the Euro 2016 squad in the summer.
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have hit a rough patch after a strong start to the season, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the their most recent Premier League fixture.
