Liverpool finished in eighth place last season, ensuring that the famous club wouldn’t have the distraction of European football in the new campaign.

This seems to have benefited the Reds, who are currently placed two points behind league leaders Manchester City with 16 points from their first seven fixtures.

Meanwhile, Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw in their last match against Stoke and they will be keen to return to form after an inconsistent start to the new campaign.

The two rivals last met in March in the Europa League playing out a 1-1 draw, which saw the Reds earn a 3-1 victory on aggregate.

In other Liverpool news, Jamie Redknapp believes Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will be the dangermen for the Reds against Manchester United on Monday night.
