Lee Hendrie revealed his delight on Twitter following Aston Villa’s victory on Saturday.
Villa earned a narrow 1-0 home win against Fulham in the Championship, with Jonathan Kodjia scoring a fantastic volley in the 80th minute.
Steve Bruce has made a great start as Villa manager, picking up two wins and one draw from his opening three games.
He replaced Roberto Di Matteo at the Midlands club and has helped them rise to 16th in the Championship table, five points clear now of the relegation places.
Hendrie, who spent 12 years at Villa Park, was thrilled with the result and urged his former club to continue the good form.
“Great win today Villa boys. Great goal to keep this going,” Hendrie wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Bruce has made a great start at Villa and faces a huge test in their next match, with a highly anticipated clash with rivals Birmingham at St Andrews.
Birmingham are currently seventh-placed in the Championship and will be slight favourites for the meeting, but Villa will certainly be prepared for the grudge match.
Villa made a disappointing start to the season after being relegated from the Premier League and were expected to challenge for promotion.
In the latest Aston Villa news, Bruce has shared how long he intends to be at the club for.
