Leeds winger Jordan Botaka is set to sign on loan for League One promotion hopefuls Charlton, according to a report.
Fox Sports in Botaka’s native Holland have revealed that a deal for Botaka has already been secured, with a formal announcement expected imminently.
Fox Sports journalist Martijn Visscher claimed on his personal Twitter account that Botaka has already joined Charlton, with Leeds’ number 20 arriving at the London club on a season-long loan.
The DR Congo international, who grew up in Holland, has had a disappointing stay in Yorkshire following his move from Dutch outfit Excelsior on deadline day last summer, making just 14 appearances in all competitions.
Botaka, who began his professional career in Belgium with Club Brugge while also playing on-loan in Portugal with Belenenses, has been the subject of much interest from club in the Football League.
The 23-year-old has an option in his contract for a further two years at Elland Road when his deal expires next summer, and a loan move to Charlton could help the winger earn the extension.
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay confirmed that Botaka was on his way to The Valley, but revealed that there had been interest from the Addicks’ domestic rivals Oldham.
Monk confirmed that he would be allowing some fringe players to leave Elland Road, after the likes of Souleymane Doukara, Luke Murphy and Botaka failed to make the first 18 in both of Leeds’ opening fixtures.
