Leeds recruits Pontus Jansson and Pablo Hernandez have been named in the Championship’s Team of the Week for game week eight.

The duo played an integral part in the Yorkshire giants’ 2-0 win against Cardiff on Saturday, which has seen Garry Monk’s side spring up the Championship table to 15th place.

Football website posted their Team of the Week on their official website, with former Leeds midfielder Jonny Howson also being named in the side.

The Sweden international was integral to Leeds’ second clean sheet of the season alongside fellow new recruit Kyle Bartley at the heart of Leeds’ defence, making a total of 17 clearances which was 10 more than any other player on the pitch.

On loan from Serie A outfit Torino, Jansson has broken into the Leeds side in recent games ahead of Liam Cooper and has formed a formidable partnership with fellow loanee Bartley.

Former Swansea star Hernandez was also named in the team, after scoring a superb solo effort that flew into the top corner with the help of the woodwork following Chris Wood’s penalty.

The Spaniard is also on loan at Elland Road from Qatar Stars League outfit Al-Arabi, but has impressed during seven league and cup encounters.

Leeds will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce when they host Blackburn on Tuesday in the third round of the EFL Cup, just a week after beating Owen Coyle’s side in the league.
