Leeds are waiting on results to come back on midfielder Eunan O’Kane’s groin injury, according to a reliable journalist.
The Leeds midfielder returned to the club from Martin O’Neil’s international squad following the injury.
BBC Sport broadcaster Adam Pope has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Yorkshire giants are now waiting to see the severity of the 26-year-old’s injury.
If the groin problem does prove to be serious then it will hit Garry Monk’s side hard, who are currently sat in sixth place in the Championship table.
The midfielder, who joined permanently from Bournemouth in the summer has been an integral part to the Yorkshire giants’ midfield playing in 11 fixtures for the club.
They also face a tough test against Newcastle at Elland Road after the international break with Rafa Benitez’ side sat three points clear at the top of the table.
Fellow midfield team-mate Liam Bridcutt suffered a serious injury earlier in the season and hasn’t featured in the team since a clash against Blackburn in September.
Ronaldo Vieira, who scored the match winner in the recent fixture against Norwich could be an option to replace O’Kane in the line-up, while on loan youngster Matt Grimes could be another.
