Pierre-Michel Lasogga was in Leeds on Saturday after being granted permission to quit Hamburg – and fans have hailed the possible signing of the forward.
The Daily Mail claim Leeds United are confident of landing the 25-year-old on a deal that would be an initial loan with an option to buy.
It is said that Hamburg want to offload Lasogga as they look to slash their wage bill ahead of the new Bundesliga season.
Intriguingly, social media pictures showed the German sat with the United squad earlier on Saturday as they relaxed with their families at the Clayton Hotel in Leeds city centre ahead of their goalless draw against Preston at Elland Road.
The United faithful are encouraged that their club are seemingly on the verge of strengthening the forward ranks and providing support to Chris Wood.

Chris Wood may or may not go but Lasogga signing means nothing in that regard. It means we currently have strength in depth up front.#LUFC

#LUFC Lasogga sounds done. Seems getting Antonsson out was the holdup.

Lasogga’s agent is his mother. I can’t help but wonder how that might have gone down if Cellino was still here. #lufc

Leeds drew a blank yesterday (Saturday) as they drew 0-0 against 10-man Preston North End at home.
Wood led the line but could not add to his strike in the team’s opening-day 3-2 win at Bolton Wanderers.
The possible signing of Lasogga comes after Marcus Antonsson joined League One outfit Blackburn Rovers on Friday on a season-long loan.
The former Germany Under-21 international is currently carrying a minor injury and is not training with Hamburg after being frozen out of their first team set-up.
He scored only one league goal last season, and just two from 22 matches in all competitions, but has a fine track record in the Bundesliga.
Meanwhile, Leeds are fending off immense interest in Wood, who topped the Championship goal charts last season.
In other Leeds United news, Football Insider can exclusively reveal that three Premier League clubs have tabled formal bids for Wood.
