Leeds announced two of their young guns have signed new contracts – but there was a lukewarm response from their long-suffering supporters on Twitter.
Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell, 19, has committed his future to the Yorkshire giants by penning a two-year deal, while left-back Tom Pearce, 18, has signed professional terms.
The club announced on their official website that Peacock-Farrell, who progressed through the ranks at Thorp Arch to make his senior debut last season, put pen to paper on Wednesday evening after being offered fresh terms earlier this summer.
Shortly afterwards, the Yorkshire giants announced on their website that another young player, Tom Pearce, has agreed his first contract with the club.
Leeds United fans reacted with positivity to the new deals, but were hopeful that star man Lewis Cook would follow suit.
The duos new deals come a week after the appointment of new manager Garry Monk and is a boost to the club, particularly given the uncertainty that previously existed over Peacock-Farrell.
Here are some of the messages from Leeds fans on Twitter:
Good news about the young lads today, would have much preferred longer deals though! #Lufc

One and two year deals are pointless, especially for the young players. #LUFC

Hmm, 2 year deals..?
It’s almost as if MC has no business sense or strategy whatsoever. #lufc

Remember what Cagliari fans said? Cellino is brilliant at bringing thru youngsters… & then getting the best possible price for them. #lufc
