Leeds fans were demob happy on Twitter following the unveiling of three new signings in 15 hours – but they aren’t happy about the impending sale of Lewis Cook.
The signings of Matt Grimes on-loan from Swansea, League Two Player of the Year Kemar Roofe and former England goalkeeper Rob Green got the Yorkshire fanbase excited, until it all came crashing down.
As reported by the Football Insider, teen sensation and England under-19 international Cook looks set to leave his boyhood club, with Bournemouth about to complete a £6million swoop.
The 19-year-old has already made 85 professional appearances for Leeds, and is known for his lung-bursting runs from midfield and impressive dribbling ability.
Leeds fans are understandably sad to see their young prodigy go, but accept that the time is right for the their number 23 to look for pastures new.
Some fans tweeted about manager Garry Monk’s transfer activity, which has seen six new faces come in, while others rued Leeds for not tying down their most prized possession.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
We've done some decent business this week, it's encouraging, but it's nowhere near where we need to be, especially with Cook leaving.#LUFC

What a horrible nightmare that was, we were selling Lewis Cook to Bournemouth for six milli… oh #lufc

If Cook goes we must get the absolute maximum for him! Everyone can see the quality! 6m is peanuts for him if that number is true! #lufc

Cook, who has captained the England under-19 side, has not yet put pen to paper with Bournemouth as the final say-so is with chairman Massimo Cellino.
Manager Monk was not expecting to sell Cook, after recently persuading him to join Leeds’ pre-season tour of Ireland instead of meeting up with the England under-19s.
In other Leeds news, former Blackburn manager Paul Lambert has raved about one of Leeds’ new signings.
