Pablo Hernandez put in an impressive display on his Leeds debut against Fleetwood on Wednesday – and Whites supporters took to Twitter to applaud their new man.

The Spain international joined Leeds on a six-month loan from Al-Arabi this summer and he was considered one of the bright lights in the Whites’ performance, as Garry Monk’s team needed extra-time and penalties to see off League One side Fleetwood.

The 31-year-old midfielder started the game and played the full 90 minutes at Highbury Stadium.

Leeds drew the match 1-1 in 90 minutes after a goal from Fleetwood’s Aaron Holloway in the first half put the League One side ahead. Marcus Antonsson levelled the scoreline on the 89th minute. Leeds took the lead in extra-time with a penalty from Chris Wood to put the Whites a goal up, but Fleetwood’s Ashley Hunter took the tie to penalties.

The Yorkshire giants came through to win the match, running out 5-4 victors in the shootout.

Fans of the Yorkshire club were disappointed with the overall result, but happy with what they saw from their new signing.

Fans took to Twitter to share their views on Hernandez’ display:

Hernandez joins Leeds with top-level experience after spending four-years at Valencia in La Liga and two-years with Swansea in the Championship.

Leeds face Birmingham at home on Saturday and fans will be hoping to see a similar performance from Hernandez, but a much improved one from the rest of their side.

In other Leeds team news, the Whites are set to announce two new additions to their side this week.
