Kalvin Phillips was brought off of the bench against Nottingham Forest on Saturday – and supporters took to Twitter to applaud the youngster after the 20-year-old scored a stunning goal.
The Leeds youth graduate was brought off the bench after 66 minutes and during his short time on the pitch he managed to pull a goal back for the Yorkshire giants after nestling home a sweet free-kick.
However, his 83rd minute strike – and second for the club – wasn’t enough on the day as the Elland Road side suffered a 3-1 defeat after goals from Pajtim Kasami, Damien Perquis and Oliver Burke ensured a comfortable victory at the City Ground.
Despite the defeat fans of the Yorkshire club were happy with what they saw from Phillips and have called for him to start in future matches.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

His former club Wortley FC even got in on the praise for the youngster:

The young midfielder had only scored one goal for Leeds in his 19 prior appearances after breaking into the senior team in 2014.
However, despite the goal the club will still be disappointed with the end result.
The Elland Road club have suffered three defeats in their opening five league matches following the game on Saturday after earlier losses against QPR and Birmingham.
This has left the club in a low 21st position in the embryonic table as they prepare for a Yorkshire clash against top of the league Huddersfield after the international break.
In other Leeds team news, youngster Tyler Denton was named in the EFL Cup Team of the Round.
