Garry Monk has made his fifth Leeds signing by landing Swansea starlet Matt Grimes – and fans are delighted with this summer’s transfer activity so far.

The England Under-21 international joins on a season-long loan from Monk’s former side, joining Kyle Bartley in making the trip from South Wales to Yorkshire.

Grimes, 20, was signed by Monk in January 2015 for a fee of £1.8million from League Two side Exeter, after winning Player of the Year in his first season at St. James’ Park.

Leeds announced on their official website that Grimes will now join the rest of the Leeds squad in Ireland, as they prepare to face Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne.

Leeds fans took to Twitter to express their delight over Monk’s activity this summer so far.

Many voiced their pleasure that it appears to be Monk calling the shots, and not temperamental chairman Massimo Cellino, as well as stating that they believe Grimes to be a strong signing.

Here are a selection of their messages:

Grimes is versatile on the pitch, being able to play in a number of midfield positions. One fan spotted that he’s versatile off it too, being able to partake in multiple sports.

In other Leeds news, this new signing has declared that he is keen to act as a mentor to the younger players.
