Marcus Antonsson scored a stunning hat-trick for Leeds’ Under-23s on Monday – and fans of the club on Twitter believe he should see more senior game time.

The 25-year-old striker opened the scoring after just four minutes to put his side 1-0 up, but Huddersfield battled back and took a 2-1 lead before Antonsson’s second half double ensured a win for his side.

The summer signing has been used sparingly in the league with team-mate Chris Wood in good form in front of goal with 11 goals in 20 appearances.

However, fans on social media believe that Antonsson has now put in a claim to see more pitch time in Garry Monk’s team.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Antonsson became Monk’s first signing at the club with the pair moving to Elland Road in the summer.

He has made 15 appearances for the Yorkshire giants since joining, scoring three goals and providing one assist and he will now be looking to start a scoring run following his hat-trick for the Under-23s.

The striker will bring a welcome selection headache to Monk as his side sit in seventh in the Championship preparing for a clash against bottom of the league Rotherham on Saturday.
