Out-of-favour striker Souleymane Doukara has delighted Leeds fans on Twitter, after Garry Monk’s side won on penalties against Norwich.

The fourth round tie went to extra time, before Nelson Oliveira scored to put Norwich 2-1 up in the 99th minute. Chris Wood then made the score 2-2 in the second half of extra time, before Ronaldo Vieira scored the winning penalty in the shootout.

Beforehand, Senegalese striker Doukara set up Leeds’ goal after controlling Kemar Roofe’s deep cross at the back post. He cut the ball back to Swedish striker Marcus Antonsson, who levelled the scores at 1-1 just before half time.

Doukara, 25, has struggled to make an impression on Garry Monk’s first-team squad this season, with his appearance in the EFL Cup fourth round tie only his fifth senior appearance of the season.

Of those five, the striker has started just two without finding the net as Antonsson and top scorer Chris Wood sit ahead of him in the Elland Road pecking order.

However, Leeds fans took to Twitter to express their delight at seeing the former Catania striker perform well, with many calling on Monk to give him more of a chance in future games.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Doukara has scored just 10 goals in 56 league and cup encounters for the Yorkshire giants, after moving to Elland Road during Massimo Cellino’s first summer as owner.

The France-born striker’s Leeds future is in doubt, though, with less than 12 months left on the three-year contract he signed back in the summer of 2014.
