Luke Ayling delivered another outstanding display in Leeds’ 1-0 Championship win against Brentford on Saturday – and fans took to Twitter to hail the defender.

The summer signing from Bristol City was arguably the home side’s outstanding performer in what was generally a forgettable encounter.

Leeds were below par for much of the match but a last-gasp Kyle Bartley header sealed a second win of the week for Garry Monk’s side and lifted them to fourth in the table as their promotion surge gathered further momentum.

Ayling was key to the victory with not only some solid defending in his right-back position but also some fine forward forays that often made him the team’s most dangerous attacker.

Leeds fans were impressed by the performance of the summer signing from Bristol City and took to social media to express their gratification.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Leeds’ win over Dean Smith’s side was their seventh in nine league matches and takes their points haul for the season to 38 from 22 Championship matches.

The Yorkshire club are now just seven points behind Brighton in the second automatic promotion spot, although the Sussex club have a game in hand.

In other Leeds news, these are the first two signings that incoming new owner Andrea Radrizzani will make in the January transfer window.
