Leeds fans took to Twitter to hail Pontus Jansson despite the team’s 1-0 defeat to Derby on Saturday.

Garry Monks’ side’s excellent run of results came to an end as Johnny Russell’s goal secured the three points for newly appointed manager Steve McClaren.

On-loan Jansson has emerged as a  key member of Leeds’ team during their transformation over the last month after leapfrogging Liam Cooper in the centre-back pecking order at Elland Road.

The Swede played the full 90 minutes of the win over Barnsley after recovering from a hamstring problem sustained in midweek, and which had made him a doubt ahead of the match.

Fans took to social media to give their verdicts on Jansson’s display at the back against Derby.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Manager Monk had made only one change to the Leeds team that beat Barnsley 2-1 before the international break, with Alex Mowatt replacing the injured Stuart Dallas.

Monk’s side remain in the top half of the Championship table in 12th despite not extending their points haul beyond 16.

In other Leeds news, a senior player is destined to leave the club in January.
