Kemar Roofe produced one of his best displays in a Leeds shirt against Liverpool on Tuesday night – and fans on Twitter urged him to repeat it against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Roofe caused problems to the rejigged Liverpool backline with his pace and mobility even though his side were unable to capitalise and lost 2-0 at Anfield to crash out of the League Cup at the quarter-final stage.

For the second consecutive match, the summer signing from Oxford was used in a central playmaking role and responded with a performance of vim and vigour.

Roofe, 23, was extremely unfortunate not to score his first Leeds goal as a sumptuous 52nd minute effort curled wide of Simon Mignolet’s grasp but crashed back off the post.

Nevertheless, Leeds fans were delighted that the attacking midfielder had been so effective at the home of one of the Premier League powerhouses.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Roofe joined Leeds from Oxford for around £3million in the summer after being awarded the League Two player of the year last season for his performances in the fourth tier.

He has made 22 appearances for the Yorkshire giants in all competitions, and Tuesday’s clash was his 13th start for the club.

Leeds host in-form Aston Villa in the league on Saturday for a clash that kicks off at 5.30pm at Elland Road.

In other Leeds news, a Sky Sports pundit has claimed that “lots of clubs” are looking to sign this Elland Road star in the January transfer window.
