Leeds fans have urged Garry Monk to axe Liam Bridcutt ahead of the weekend’s Championship clash against Burton.

The 27-year-old started Monday’s 1-0 Elland Road defeat against Wolves before being booked and hauled off after just 56 minutes for attacker Hadi Sacko.

The Yorkshire giants’ fan base were highly unimpressed by the display of the defensive midfielder and many feel that he offers very little going forward.

However, Bridcutt has been a mainstay of the team since signing permanently from Sunderland in the summer and Monk elected him as the club’s captain.

The midfield enforcer has featured in 25 of the club’s 43 Championship matches this season, starting nine of the club’s last 10 league fixtures.

But, fans are now calling for him to be dropped from the team with many sharing less than complimentary views of Bridcutt and one fan went as far as to label him “spineless.”

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Leeds brought in Bridcutt in the summer from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee after he impressed at the club on loan last season.

He has played a big role in helping to improve the Whites’ defensive unit this campaign, but with goals now needed for the team to make it’s way back into the top six it is clear that fans want another attacker in their side.

In other Leeds news, Monk has responded to Premier League interest in club star.
