Leeds United fans took to Twitter to rave about Kalvin Phillips in the wake of their 2-0 win against Birmingham City on Tuesday night.

The midfielder, 21, played the full 90 minutes of United’s fourth consecutive league win after being given the nod to start for the seventh time in the competition this season.

It is a far cry from 2016-17, when Phillips was the fourth choice central midfielder behind Liam Bridcutt, Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane.

The Elland Road academy product was also a regular target for criticism from supporters, who felt his composure and distribution did not match his energy.

But Phillips has won over the Elland Road faithful with a series of impressive displays this season.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Phillips has also weighed in with three goals for Leeds this season, including two in the opening-day 3-2 win at Bolton.

He has formed an impressive partnership in the centre with O’Kane, who was also on the fringes of the team in the second half of last season.

In other Leeds United transfer news, Alvin Martin has made an astonishing claim about Christiansen’s team that fans will love.
