Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday are among several clubs interested in a move for Birmingham midfielder Stephen Gleeson, according to a report.
Gleeson, 28, has become one of the most coveted midfielders in the Championship since he arrived in the Midlands in 2014 from MK Dons.
Sport website HITC claims that Wednesday are hoping they can beat Leeds and Reading to the chase for Gleeson by making an approach.
Gleeson has been an ever-present member of the Blues squad for the last two years, winning 89 appearances in that time.
The Ireland international came through the ranks at Wolves but, after a series of loans away from Molineux, joined MK Dons.
Leeds are looking for a player to bolster their midfield after losing hot prospect Lewis Cook to Bournemouth this summer.
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay claims they are closing in on the signing of Liam Bridcutt from Sunderland, after the Black Cats agreed a settlement of the midfielder’s current contract.
The Yorkshire giants have had a tough start to the new season, having been hammered 3-0 in their curtain raiser against QPR last Sunday before Fleetwood took them to penalties in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
In other Leeds transfer news, they have tabled a bid for a Euro-based defender and the club have issued a response.
