Leeds defender Pontus Jansson has set his sights firmly on Tuesday night as pressure continues to mount at the club.
The Championship giants recorded their fourth league defeat of the season as Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield ran out 1-0 winners at Elland Road on Saturday.
The Sweden international revealed via his personal Twitter account that the Leeds squad are focused on only one thing ahead of Tuesday’s league showdown against Blackburn.
Leeds face the Championship bottom club at Elland Road and will be expected to overcome Owen Coyle’s side, who are the only Championship outfit who are yet to record a domestic win this season as they prop up the rest of the division.
Jansson, on loan from Joe Hart’s new side Torino, started his first league match at the weekend as he was given the nod over Liam Cooper to partner Kyle Bartley at the heart of the defence.
He is now fully focused on the midweek match as Garry Monk looks to mastermind just a second league victory for his under-fire side.
The loss against Huddersfield saw Leeds move into the relegation places, after a wonderful strike from Manchester City loanee Aaron Mooy gave Wagner’s side the three points against the run of play.
Manager Monk is coming under pressure that is amplified by the trigger-happy nature of controversial chairman Massimo Cellino. The former Cagliari owner has overseen seven different managers since he bought the club in 2014.
A win against Blackburn would see Leeds fly up the table into 17th position if results go their way, but more importantly they could generate some momentum ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off against Cardiff City.
