Football Insider rates the Leeds players in their 2-0 loss against Newcastle in Sunday afternoon’s Championship clash at Elland Road.
Robert Green 3 – The experienced shot stopper made a horrendous mistake for Newcastle’s opening goal and put his side on the back foot early on, which they weren’t able to recover.
Luke Ayling 7 – The attacking full-back asked a number of questions of the Magpies’ defence, but was unable to work a clear cut chance.
Kyle Bartley 4 – The stand-in skipper lost Dwight Gayle for Newcastle’s second goal, which put the match beyond Leeds.
Pontus Jansson 6 – Was combative in defence, but picked up a stupid booking for dissent, which will see him miss the next fixture.
Charlie Taylor 6 – Went forward a few times, but failed to deliver anything meaningful, while he wasn’t ever tested going backwards.
Eunan O’Kane 6 – Looked assured in midfield and helped Garry Monk’s side to control the game, but needed more attacking creativity.
Ronaldo Vieira 6 – The young starlet did his job with well in the defensive midfield position without pulling up any trees.
Kemar Roofe 4 – Another poor game for last season’s League Two Player of the Year as he failed to ask any questions of the Newcastle back line.
Kalvin Phillips 6 – Put in a few good balls from set-pieces, but his team-mates were unable to take advantage.
Souleymane Doukara 5 – Showed good work-rate on the left hand side of an attacking three, but lacked the quality needed to breakdown a Newcastle back four.
Chris Wood 5 – Didn’t get any joy out of a resolute back four and was marked out of the game from the first minute to the last
Hadi Sacko (for Vieira 62 mins) 5
Marcus Antonsson (for Doukara 78 mins) 5
