Liam Bridcutt has been ruled out of Leeds’ Championship trip to Birmingham on Tuesday night.

The star midfielder has been struggling with a thigh injury that kept him out of the Yorkshire club’s weekend fixture away at Burnley.

Steve Evans confirmed on Monday that Bridcutt will not be fit in time for the St Andrews trip, but he is hopeful the Scottish international will be available for selection at the weekend.

“He hasn’t got a chance for tomorrow,” said Evans speaking to the Leeds website. “He’s very much in our thoughts for towards Saturday, though.

“The risk of injuring him again tomorrow would be too high to take. We’re hopeful that Liam will train later in the week, that’s the medical opinion.”

Bridcutt has been a mainstay in the centre of the park for Leeds since moving to the club on loan in November and has made 21 appearances in the Championship.

Steve Evans is hoping to sign a new player for Leeds by next week
