A virus has swept the Leeds camp ahead of their Championship clash against Reading on Saturday at Elland Road.
Captain Sol Bamba and Tom Adeyemi are not in the squad for the 3pm kick-off due to illness and manager Steve Evans has revealed that a number of other players are “under the weather”.
Leeds are also without injured duo Liam Bridcutt and Mustapha Carayol as well as suspended pair Souleymane Doukara and Alex Mowatt.
Manager Steve Evans has admitted his options for the Elland Road clash are severely limited as he aims to steer the team to a top-half league finish.
“We’ve had a virus in the camp thats sees our captain miss out, he’s not even at the stadium today, he’s at home in bed,” Evans told Leeds TV. “The same with Tom Adeyemi, who would certainly have figured in some part of the game, and a couple of other boys are under the weather. We’re all hands on decks today.
“Some of the lads have had it and it’s passed through, so I’m hoping the lads on the pitch today don’t feel the effects but you never know until you put them out there.”
Skipper Bamba had started the previous two matches after returning to the team in central defence in place of Giuseppe Bellusci, who was deemed to be in the wrong frame of mind to face Burnley last Saturday.
Carayol was a substitute against Birmingham in midweek but had started the matches previous to that.
Leeds cemented their position of 15th in the Championship, four points clear of 16th placed Blackburn.
