Garry Monk is desperate to add a striker to his Leeds squad in January as he looks to guide his side to Premier League promotion.

Top scorer Chris Wood is struggling with a hamstring injury and Marcus Antonsson has failed to prove his £2million fee as of yet, forcing Monk to enter the market for a striker.

The former Swansea boos has been reportedly interested in a number of Premier League forwards this month, and here is how three of Monk’s attacking targets compare:

Ashley Fletcher – 7/10

The Sun claimed this week that the Yorkshire giants had entered talks with West Ham to bring their new signing to Elland Road for around £2million after missing out on him in the summer.

Possessing a mouthwatering combination of blistering speed as well as strong aerial ability, Fletcher is certainly highly rated by the Hammers.

However, he is largely unproven and although he found the net for the Hammers against Man United this season, Fletcher is still an unknown in terms of regular game time at Championship level.

Jordan Rhodes – 9/10

Betting company Sky Bet have slapped 14/1 odds on Monk snapping up out-of-favour Championship goal machine Jordan Rhodes from Middlesbrough.

Currently on the fringes of the Premier League new boys squad, Rhodes is expected to leave in January and possesses the necessary quality to even oust New Zealand international Wood from his number one striker perch.

However, Rhodes is likely to cost a lot of money in both transfer fee in wages, and Leeds face heavy competition from the likes of Aston Villa. A top signing, but an unlikely one.

David Nugent – 6/10

Similarly to Rhodes, Nugent has been demoted by Boro manager Aitor Karanka and the Northern Echo claim Leeds are one of three second-tier clubs eyeing a move for Nugent.

The 31-year-old knows how to find the back of the net at this level, with 103 goals in 306 appearances in Championship.

However, now entering his thirties, Nugent has lost his turn of pace and could find chances hard to come by at Leeds. The one-time England international would be a useful signing, but there are better options out there.
