Leigh Griffiths has praised new Celtic signing Scott Sinclair for his winning goal against Hearts on Sunday.

The Bhoys won the tie 2-1, as they began their Scottish Premiership defence with three points.

Celtic fans reacted with delight on Twitter to Sinclair’s instant impact after he was introduced from the bench to mark a memorable debut with the winner.

Team-mate Griffiths took to his personal Twitter account to offer a congratulations message to Sinclair, although he claimed the assist after some speedy work on the wing with what he describes as “the turbo”.

Sinclair was named on Brendan Rodgers’ bench just hours after completing a transfer to Celtic from Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old has already played for several clubs in his career, including Chelsea, Manchester City, Swansea and, most recently, Villa.

Griffiths appears to have settled at Celtic after spells at Scottish trio Livingston, Dundee and Hibernian as a youngster, as well as time in England with Championship side Wolves.

The striker led the line with huge success in 2015-16, bagging 40 goals and providing eight assists in 51 games in all competitions last season and finishing as the the club’s top scorer by some distance.

Celtic face Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup on Wednesday and pairing Griffiths and Sinclair will hope to strike up a formidable partnership.

In other Celtic team news, Rodgers has given the club’s winger a second chance to breathe life into his stagnating career.
