Liverpool have been told that Neven Subtotic wants a summer transfer as he eyes regular first-team football, according to a report.

The 27-year-old endured a difficult 2015-16 season, making just 11 appearances in all competitions and was recently linked with a move to Anfield.

Subotic’s agent Frieder Gamm has told Der Westen, cited by Daily Star: “A defender of the class of Neven Subotic was, understandably, not satisfied with the bench.”

“He is now 100 percent fit again and we are currently scouting the market.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was linked with a move for Subotic back in April and it appears the transfer may be back on.

He is a player that the Anfield manager knows well having previously signed and coached him during his tenure at Borussia Dortmund.

German publication Revier Sport, cited by Daily Star, claimed in April that the Liverpool manager was still a huge admirer of the central defender and that he was keen on bringing him to Anfield.

The Serbian defender had said: “I want to play as often as possible. I’m very happy in Dortmund but if it is not possible, then I should be concerned about that.”

Subotic is just shy of 200 appearances in the league for German outfit Dortmund having spent the majority of his career there so far.

In other Liverpool transfer news, they are preparing to trump rivals Everton and trigger the release clause of Euro 2016 star.
