Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been nominated for the Premier League player of the month award alongside his player Adam Lallana, who has been named on the player shortlist.

The Reds won all three of their Premier League fixtures in the month of September, with wins against Hull, Chelsea and league champions Leicester.

Lallana, 28, featured in all three fixtures and got on the score sheet in the victories over Hull and Leicester.

However, the attacker didn’t start October as he would have liked to during the weekend’s clash against Swansea.

The Reds won the clash at the Liberty Stadium 2-1 picking up their fourth consecutive league win, but Lallana was brought off within half an hour of the clash after suffering a groin strain.

The injury has ruled him out of international duty with England, but he could be back for Liverpool’s next league fixture against fierce rivals Manchester United.

The Merseysiders are currently sat in fourth place in the Premier League and two points behind league leaders Manchester City.

They are looking to return to European football and with just the domestic campaign to focus on this season, many believe that Klopp’s side can do it after their good start.

In other Liverpool team news, fans have reacted amusingly on Twitter after learning that former defender Glen Johnson had withdrawn from the England squad.
