Match of the Day viewers selected Sadio Mane’s goal against Arsenal as the August goal of the month, while teammate Philippe Coutinho’s goal in the same match was voted second.
Liverpool beat the Gunners 4-3 in their season opener, which included a stunning solo effort from Mane and a sweet free kick from Coutinho.
Viewers of the football highlight show were clearly impressed with both goals and in Sunday’s Match of The Day 2, the show announced that Mane had won the goal of the month competition with 29% of the vote, while Coutinho fell just behind in second with 28% of the vote.
Middlesbrough’s Christian Stuani was named in third place with just 14% of the vote.

He has got off to a brilliant start at Liverpool with his debut goal against Arsenal as well as a goal against champions Leicester in the most recent 4-1 victory.
The former Southampton star was also selected as the August Player of the Month for his club after three impressive performances for his side against Arsenal, Burton and Tottenham respectively.
Mane has settled in excellently at Anfield following his big money move and fans will be excited to see more from him in the coming season.
