Liverpool will face a battle this summer to keep hold of young prodigy Sergi Canos, according to a report.

The Daily Star claim the teenage Spaniard has turned down a new deal at Anfield as he holds out for a £10,000-a-week contract.

It is said the £4million-rated midfielder is set to leave this summer with a host of sides interested in his signature.

The 19-year-old joined Liverpool in 2013 from Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy.

The report states that he would prefer a move to a London-based side with Watford and QPR emerging as potential suitors, but sides in Portugal are also showing an interest in him.

Canos spent the recently completed domestic season on loan at Brentford and was a key player for the team, scoring on seven occasions while assisting fives times in 38 appearances.

Jurgen Klopp gave him his first Liverpool appearances in their last league game of the season against West Bromwich Albion also.

It wouldn’t be the first time the Merseysiders lost a hot prospect with Suso leaving last summer for AC Milan and, more recently, Jerome Sinclair turned down a new deal on Merseyside to join Watford and Jordan Rossiter agreed a free transfer to Rangers.

In other Liverpool news, another youngster is eager to impress Jurgen Klopp this summer.
