Inter Milan and Tottenham have joined Liverpool in the race for £30million defender Jonas Hector, according to reports.

The German Express claim the Italian giants are keen on signing the highly-rated Koln left-back.

The Mirror state that Spurs are also providing competition to Liverpool for Hector, who is a long-time target of manager Jurgen Klopp.

It is said Liverpool still want to sign a left-back despite the impressive displays of natural midfielder James Milner in the position this term.

Tottenham are also believed to have shown interest in the Bundesliga star.

Liverpool vice-captain Milner has successfully taken on the left-back role this season despite spending most of his career in midfield.

The former England international has Liverpool’s last fixtures in his new position after Alberto Moreno was axed following some poor performances.

The 24 year-old, formerly of Sevilla, has provided some positive attacking moments from left-back but his defensive qualities have come under question on many occasions.

Despite Milner’s impressive performances, Klopp is believed to still be looking for further options, as his side hope to qualify for Europe at the end of the season.

Hector has started in all of his club’s six league fixtures already this season and the 26 year-old has been one of FC Koln’s most impressive performers.

He’s already created nine chances from the left-back position this season and is known for his excellent delivery and service.
