Liverpool fans have been discussing on Twitter who should start against Leeds in their EFL Cup quarter-final at Anfield – and many are hoping to see Ben Woodburn in action.
The 17-year-old made his Premier League debut against Sunderland as a late substitute during the 2-0 victory and he is expected to be given another opportunity on Tuesday evening.
Injuries to Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana have opened up doors in the side and as well as Woodburn, a number of academy stars are hoping to feature.
The Liverpool Echo report Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ovie Ejaria, Kevin Stewart and Woodburn all missed the Reds’ under-23’s draw against Derby because they are due to play against Leeds.
Alexander-Arnold made his competitive debut in the 2-0 victory against Tottenham in the last round and produced a wonderful display at right-back so he is expected to replace Nathaniel Clyne.
Liverpool could also hand a fourth appearance of the season to Ejaria who has been impressive under Jurgen Klopp so far this season and can offer creativity in midfield.
Stewart has become a regular first team member and has already made 11 Premier League appearances for the club so it will be no surprise to see him start against Leeds.
