Philippe Coutinho continued his impressive form for Brazil in a World Cup qualifier – and Liverpool fans claim their player is better than Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.
Coutinho, 24, scored a fantastic long-range effort for his country in the 3-0 win against Argentina in a World Cup qualifier.
The Reds attacking midfielder has begun the season in great form and helped Liverpool reach the summit of the Premier League.
Arsenal’s Ozil has also been in great form this campaign and proved to be more potent in front of goal.
Liverpool supporters have compared two of the league’s top performers and feel that Coutinho is the better player.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Coutinho predominately operates on the left hand side of the Liverpool attack and has the licence to cut inside, with Ozil featuring in the number 10 role behind a central striker.
The pair are fairly close this season in terms of their statistics and Coutinho just edges it by directly contributing to 12 goals in 12 appearances, while Ozil has contributed 11 in his 14 matches.
Ozil, 28, has been one of the most confident performers in Europe and has excelled at both Arsenal and Real Madrid, but Liverpool fans feel that Coutinho is now coming of age.
In other Liverpool news, their supporters have reacted on Twitter after Iago Aspas is called up to Spain squad.
