Liverpool fans reacted with delight on Twitter after Emre Can’s impressive performance in their 6-1 demolition of Watford on Sunday.

The German retained his place in the starting XI ahead of Giorginio Wijnaldum despite making just three starts throughout the Premier League season so far.

The 22 year-old scored in the 43rd minute after goals from Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho gave Liverpool an early 3-0 lead in the first half.

He had a fantastic performance in midfield too as his side were ruthless against the bottom of the table team and any earlier doubts about his position in the starting XI were quickly wiped away.

Can struggled to regain full fitness after returning from the European Championships with Germany and only completed his first full 90 minutes against Manchester United on 17th October.

Since returning to the starting XI, he has helped his side record victories against West Brom and Crystal Palace, although he struggled during the goalless draw against United.

Liverpool’s 6-1 victory against Watford has sent them to the top of the Premier League table following 1-1 draws for both Manchester City and Arsenal.
