Sam Allardyce has left his managerial position with England – and the Liverpool fans have reacted with delight on Twitter to the news.

The Football Association revealed on Tuesday that Allardyce has left his role after just 67 days in charge.

The 61-year-old has mutually agreed with the FA to terminate his contract with the national team.

The Telegraph reported allegations that Allardyce used his position to negotiate a £400,000 deal and appeared to offer advice on how to circumvent rules on player transfers.

Gareth Southgate will now take charge of England’s next four matches whilst a successor is lined up.

Allardyce’s only game in charge came in a 1-0 victory against Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier.

Ironically it was Liverpool’s midfielder Adam Lallana who netted a 95th minute winner and Allardyce has some history with the Merseyside club.

He was involved in feisty feuds with former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez during his time as a Premier League manager.

The Reds supporters have expressed their joy on Twitter that Allardyce has left his position with England and one fan has claimed “there is a God”.

In other Liverpool news, Gerard Houllier has revealed he tried to sign this controversial figure when he was at the club.
