John Terry will miss Chelsea’s fixture against Liverpool on Friday – and Reds supporters gave mixed reactions on Twitter to the news.
The 35-year-old defender was ruled out for 10 days with strained ligaments in his foot.
The Chelsea captain suffered the injury in Sunday’s clash at the Liberty Stadium against Swansea, which saw the defender leave the stadium on crutches.
David Luiz returned to the club from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and it is expected that he will replace Terry in Antonio Conte’s back four.
Liverpool fans took to social media following the news and some aired their opinions that they didn’t rate the ageing Terry against the Reds attack, while others didn’t think highly of Luiz either.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
I'm a little disappointed that John Terry won't play on Friday. I was looking forward to Sadio and the boys running circles around him. #LFC

To be honest I think I'd rather have old man Terry playing on Friday. Stick Manè on him. He wouldn't even get close. #LFC

John Terry out. David Luiz in. Never rated Luiz. Think we can get all 3 points on Friday. #LFC

Liverpool will travel to Stamford Bridge on Friday for the 8.00pm kick off in Sky Sports’ Friday Night Football slot.
The Reds’ attack have started the new campaign in impressive form in their opening five matches in all competitions, scoring 14 goals, most recently bagging four goals against Premier League champions Leicester.
Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that his side continues their impressive form and will look at Chelsea’s makeshift back four as an opportunity to move forward.
In other Liverpool news, Brendan Rodgers has revealed he tried to sign midfielder Thiago Alcantara while at the Reds.
