Liverpool fans were not impressed with Roberto Firmino’s display on Saturday as the team limped to a 2-0 defeat to Premier League new boys Burnley.
The 24-year-old was one of a number of attacking players for Jurgen Klopp’s side guilty of below-par displays as they failed to convert any of their 26 shots or make their 81 per cent possession count.
Burnley goal-getters Andre Gray and Sam Vokes showed the former Hoffenheim star how it’s done, by finding the back of the net during the first half.
It’s not the first time the versatile attacker has come under criticism from Liverpool supporters, after he found the back of the net just once in his first 24 league and cup games following his £29million from the Bundesliga 12 months ago.
Klopp deployed Firmino as the spearhead for much of the match, with Daniel Sturridge on the right side of the attack and Philippe Coutinho on the left, supplemented by a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana.
Liverpool fans weren’t impressed with Firmino, with many still not convinced by their number 11.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Firmino is over-rated big time! now i understand why he doesn't get the call up to Brazil.except for shooting he lacks in so many areas #LFC

Never liked Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho on the same pitch against bruisers, now we can add Wijnaldum as well, far too lightweight #LFC

Klopp needs to find a way for Firmino & Sturridge to be able to play together. #lfc

Firmino is not a striker. He plays a lot better in number 10 role imo, and Sturridge/Origi should be up top. No doubt about it. #LFC

The forward has scored a 11 goals in 50 league and cup encounters for the Reds since his move, and with the expectations that a hefty transfer fee brings, Liverpool fans are still undecided on their Brazilian forward.
Firmino could miss out as Jurgen Klopp is set to rotate his squad for Tuesday’s EFL Cup second-round tie against Championship minnows Burton Albion.
In other Liverpool news, this out-of-favour star is set to end his Anfield nightmare by returning to his home country.
