Manchester City dropped two points on Sunday afternoon – and Liverpool fans reacted with glee on Twitter.

Pep Guardiola’s team came from a goal behind to draw 1-1 against Southampton at Etihad Stadium and climbed back to the Premier League summit.

But City are only ahead of second-placed Arsenal and third-placed Liverpool due to a marginally superior goal difference.

Liverpool supporters will regard it as an excellent weekend, as they beat West Brom 2-1 on Saturday and all of the other three teams in the top four drew.

Southampton led when John Stones’ sloppy pass allowed Nathan Redmond to round Claudio Bravo and slot in during the first half.

City improved after being booed off by some home fans at the break, equalising when half-time substitute Kelechi Iheanacho prodded in Leroy Sane’s low cross.

Liverpool fans were highly encouraged that City had extended their winless streak to five matches.
